Nikki organised for our Friends' Trust girl learners (and other top girl learners at Star Schools) to spend a day with her at Standard Bank. The Standard Bank Women's Forum kindly hosted these 22 girl learners on 9th September 2004.
What a success! Not only were the learners exposed to real career opportunities within the banking sector, but also left inspired by those women already working at Standard Bank.
The day started with an introduction from HR on the bank's structure and what the different areas would be looking for in candidates when recruiting. The rest of the morning was spent in wonderful discussion with women in the bank, who took time to share their personal perspectives. HR then spent the afternoon with the learners teaching interview techniques and sharing CV tips. All in all, an interactive and fulfilling day.

What I learned today, it was all about inspiration, the women who spoke to us made me realize that everything is possible and that I should stick to my goals, dreams and vision in life. I learnt a lot about careers in the corporate world and managed to know about the challenges in the corporate world. All in all I learnt that team work pays the tribute since everybody was talking about team work.
